Feature Request: Custom User Fields
Summary:
Enable administrators to assign custom fields to user profiles so those fields appear in the Users and Matrix views and can be used for sorting and organization. This would make it easier to manage users based on business-specific attributes that are not covered by the default system fields.
Problem Statement:
Currently, user records are limited to standard fields, which makes it difficult for teams to categorize, sort, and manage users according to their own operational needs. When organizations need to track additional information such as department, region, role type, or internal classifications, they lack a flexible way to display and sort by that data in the Users and Matrix windows. This creates inefficiencies in user management and limits visibility into important attributes.
Proposed Solution:
Allow administrators to create and assign custom fields to user records.
Display these custom fields within the Users and Matrix windows.
Enable sorting and, where applicable, filtering based on custom user field values.
Support common field types such as text, dropdown, number, and date, with appropriate formatting in the interface.
Ensure custom fields are configurable by authorized users only and do not disrupt existing user management workflows.
Benefits:
Improves flexibility by allowing organizations to track user-specific data relevant to their business.
Makes user management more efficient through better sorting and visibility in key administrative views.
Reduces manual workarounds currently needed to organize users by non-standard attributes.
Creates a more scalable system for teams with complex user segmentation needs.
