Feature Request: Save BOEs to the Library without workflow
Summary:
Enable users to save Basis of Estimate (BOE) records to the central Library even when a proposal does not use workflow. This ensures that valuable BOEs created for small or simple proposals can still be reused in future work.
Problem Statement:
Currently, BOEs associated with proposals that do not use workflow cannot be saved to the Library. For many small or simple proposals, teams intentionally skip workflow steps, but the BOEs they create are still high‑quality and reusable. Because there is no way to store these BOEs in the Library, users must recreate similar estimates manually for future proposals, leading to duplication of effort, inconsistency across proposals, and a missed opportunity to build a robust BOE Library.
Proposed Solution:
Allow BOEs from proposals without workflow to be saved directly to the Library.
Provide a clear “Save to Library” action for BOEs regardless of the proposal’s workflow configuration.
Apply the same validation, metadata, and categorization rules used for BOEs saved from workflow-enabled proposals (e.g., naming, versioning, tags, ownership).
If any workflow-dependent attributes are normally required, either make them optional for non-workflow proposals or provide sensible defaults so the save action is not blocked.
Ensure that once saved, these BOEs behave identically to other Library BOEs for search, reuse, and maintenance purposes.
Benefits:
Increases reuse of high-quality estimates created for small or non-workflow proposals.
Reduces manual rework and copy-paste errors when building new BOEs.
Improves consistency and standardization of estimates across proposals.
Expands and enriches the BOE Library, making it a more complete source of reusable content.
Enhances user satisfaction by removing an artificial limitation tied to workflow configuration.
