Feature Request: Create Task from Travel Tab in BOE View
Summary:
Enable users to create tasks directly from the Travel Tab of the BOE View in BOE Pro, mirroring the existing task creation capability in the Direct Estimate section. This provides a consistent and streamlined way to assign and track work associated with specific travel entries across all current and future versions of ProPricer.
Problem Statement:
Today, users who are planning or managing travel in the Travel Tab cannot create or link tasks from that context. Tasks must be created elsewhere (such as from the Direct Estimate section) and then mentally associated back to the travel entry. This disconnect makes it harder to organize work around travel plans, increases the risk that important follow-up tasks are missed, and introduces inefficiency into project workflows that rely heavily on travel.
Proposed Solution:
Add a "Create task" capability to the Travel Tab of the BOE View in BOE Pro, consistent with the task creation experience in the Direct Estimate section. When a user adds or edits a trip entry, they should be able to:
- Create a new task directly from the Travel Tab and have it automatically associated with the relevant travel entry.
- View and access tasks already associated with that travel entry from the same interface.
The feature should:
- Reuse the existing task model and permissions (no new permissions, notifications, or custom task types required).
- Maintain consistency in look, feel, and behavior with task creation from Direct Estimate.
- Be available across all current and future versions of ProPricer that include the BOE Pro Travel Tab.
Benefits:
- Streamlines workflow by allowing users to create and manage tasks in the same place they manage travel entries.
- Improves organization and traceability of work related to travel plans.
- Reduces the risk of missed follow-ups by keeping tasks tied directly to specific trips.
- Ensures a consistent task management experience between the Travel Tab and Direct Estimate sections.
- Enhances overall usability and workflow integration for projects that involve significant travel.
