Feature Request: Configurable PBS and Task BOE Sections
Summary:
Enable administrators or users to configure which sections appear in PBS-level versus task-level Basis of Estimate (BOE) records. This would allow each BOE level to present only the information relevant to its purpose.
Problem Statement:
Currently, the same sections appear in both task-level and PBS-level BOEs. This creates unnecessary complexity and confusion in multilevel BOEs, where PBS-level records often require high-level information while task-level records require more detailed justification. Users must navigate irrelevant fields and may enter inconsistent or redundant information across levels.
Proposed Solution:
Allow configuration of BOE sections by record level, with separate visibility settings for PBS-level and task-level BOEs.
Support distinct section sets for each level while maintaining a consistent BOE structure where shared information is needed.
For example, a PBS-level BOE could display only a BOE Description section, while task-level BOEs display Task Description, Work Description, and Rationale sections.
Ensure that section-level configuration does not remove or overwrite existing BOE data and clearly identifies any fields that are hidden based on the selected BOE level.
Benefits:
Reduces clutter by displaying only the sections relevant to each BOE level.
Improves usability and data quality for multilevel BOEs.
Eliminates redundant or inconsistent data entry between PBS and task-level records.
Provides teams with greater flexibility to align BOE documentation with their estimating process.
