Create task selections for reports in CVP

Feature Request: Create and manage task selections directly in CVP

Summary:
Enable users to create and manage task selections directly within Cost Volume Pro (CVP) so they can define new task selection criteria for reports without needing to log in to Contractor Edition (CE). This streamlines reporting workflows and keeps users working in a single system.

Problem Statement:
Currently, users running reports in CVP can only choose from task selections that already exist in CE. When a new task selection is needed, a user (or admin) must log in to CE, create the task selection there, and then return to CVP to use it. This cross-application dependency creates extra steps, adds delay, and introduces coordination overhead between teams, especially when CVP users do not have direct access to CE or must rely on another group to create task selections on their behalf.

Proposed Solution:
Allow users to create and maintain task selections directly within CVP for use in CVP reports.
Provide a “Task Selection” option in the CVP reporting menu that lets users:

  • Define new task selections by choosing from available tasks and applying filters/criteria.

  • Name, save, edit, and delete CVP task selections as needed.

  • Reuse saved task selections across relevant CVP reports.

If applicable, support configuration to:

  • Determine whether CVP task selections are local to CVP only or can be synchronized back to CE.

  • Control which roles or permissions are required to create, edit, or delete task selections in CVP.

Benefits:
Reduces time and effort by eliminating the need to switch to CE just to create task selections.
Decreases dependency on other teams or administrators for simple reporting configuration changes.
Improves reporting agility, allowing users to quickly define and refine task selections as business needs change.
Enhances user satisfaction by keeping the entire task selection workflow within CVP.
