Orphaned Control

Feature Request: Paragraph-level orphan control setting in CVP

Summary:
Add support for Microsoft Word’s paragraph-level orphan control setting in Cost Volume Pro so that exported documents can prevent single lines of a paragraph from appearing alone at the top or bottom of a page. This ensures professional-quality text layout that matches customers’ expectations for formal proposal and contract documents.

Problem Statement:
Today, CVP does not expose or preserve Word’s orphan control behavior at the paragraph level. As a result, exported documents can split paragraphs so that a single line appears at the bottom of one page or at the top of the next. This leads to visually unprofessional documents, increased manual rework in Word to fix layout issues, and a higher risk that last-minute pagination or content edits will introduce formatting defects that are easy to miss in review.

Proposed Solution:
Implement a paragraph-level orphan control setting in CVP that aligns with Microsoft Word’s “orphan/widow control” behavior.
Allow users to enable or disable this setting as part of the paragraph or style configuration within CVP.
Ensure the setting is stored with the section/template so it is consistently applied across exports, not reset on each generation.
On export to Word, map the CVP orphan control setting directly to the corresponding Word paragraph formatting option so that pagination behaves as expected.
Maintain backward compatibility by defaulting existing content to a reasonable standard (e.g., orphan control enabled) without changing the visible layout of legacy documents where possible.

Benefits:
Produces higher-quality, professional text output that aligns with standard Word formatting practices.
Reduces the amount of manual cleanup required in Word after export, especially for long or frequently revised documents.
Decreases the risk of formatting defects (single orphan lines) slipping into final deliverables.
Improves consistency of document layout across teams and proposal templates.
Aligns CVP more closely with native Word capabilities, making the transition from authored content to final deliverables smoother.
