NEED TO HAVE THE ABILTY TO MANAGE SIZE MANUALLY
Feature Request: Automatic Cost Volume File Splitting
Summary:
Enable the system to automatically split a large Cost Volume into multiple smaller files that comply with customer upload file size limitations, without requiring manual file management by the user.
Problem Statement:
Currently, when preparing a Cost Volume for customer submission, users must manually manage file sizes to meet strict upload limits. This often involves repeatedly splitting, saving, and renaming files by hand, which is time-consuming and error-prone. If a file exceeds the customer’s upload size limit, the upload fails, forcing users to rework the Cost Volume structure and try again, delaying delivery and increasing frustration.
Proposed Solution:
Introduce an automatic file-splitting capability for Cost Volumes that:
Allows users to define target file size limits (e.g., matching a customer’s upload maximum).
Automatically divides the Cost Volume into multiple files that each stay within the specified size limit.
Preserves logical groupings and structure (e.g., sections, CLINs, or major elements) as much as possible when splitting.
Applies consistent and clear naming conventions to the resulting files (e.g., suffixes or sequence numbers).
Provides a summary report showing how the Cost Volume was split and the size of each generated file.
Notifies the user if certain sections cannot be split cleanly and offers options (e.g., adjust limits, override grouping).
Benefits:
Reduces manual effort and rework associated with meeting customer upload size constraints.
Lowers the risk of upload failures due to oversized Cost Volume files.
Improves accuracy and consistency in how Cost Volumes are segmented and named.
Speeds up the submission process, helping teams meet tight proposal deadlines.
Enhances user experience by automating a tedious, repetitive, and error-prone step in the Cost Volume delivery workflow.
