Feature Request: Reset BOE workflow step on manual version creation
Summary:
Enable BOE versions that are manually created after approval to automatically reset to the first step in the workflow, ensuring that new versions follow the full review and approval process from the beginning.
Problem Statement:
When a new BOE version is created manually after the previous version has been approved, the workflow step remains at the final approval stage instead of returning to the first step. As a result, estimators who create new BOE versions must rely on the initial and final approvers to reject the BOE to move it back to the start of the workflow. This is inefficient, confusing, and increases the risk that a new version bypasses required review steps or causes process inconsistencies. While automatically created versions that sync with ProPricer correctly reset to the first workflow step, manually created versions do not, leading to inconsistent behavior and user frustration.
Proposed Solution:
When a user manually creates a new BOE version from an approved BOE:
Automatically reset the workflow step of the new BOE version to the first step in the defined workflow.
Preserve all other relevant BOE data and associations, changing only the workflow state.
Clearly indicate in the UI that this is a new version starting at the initial workflow step, so all stakeholders understand that the review process must be repeated.
Ensure consistent behavior between manually created BOE versions and automatically created versions that sync from ProPricer (both should start at the first workflow step).
Optionally provide an administrative setting to control whether manual version creation always resets the workflow, allowing organizations to align this behavior with their internal processes.
Benefits:
Ensures every new BOE version goes through the complete, intended review and approval workflow.
Eliminates the need for approvers to reject newly created versions solely to move them back to the first workflow step.
Reduces confusion and process errors for estimators, approvers, and other stakeholders.
Aligns manual version creation behavior with automatic version creation from ProPricer, providing consistent and predictable system behavior.
Improves overall workflow efficiency and compliance with organizational review standards.
