Summary:
Allow users to edit the name and description of a BOE directly within the BOE Library, independently from the BOE’s name and description used in a proposal. This enables the library entry to carry richer identifying and cataloging information without impacting how the BOE appears in specific proposals.
Problem Statement:
Currently, the BOE name and description used in proposals are tightly coupled to how the BOE appears in the Library. This limits the ability to store identifying or catalog-level information on the library entry that differs from how the BOE should be presented in a proposal. As a result, users cannot clearly distinguish or organize similar BOEs in the Library based on internal naming conventions, making it harder to search, identify, and reuse the correct BOE.
Proposed Solution:
Enable separate, editable fields for “Library Name” and “Library Description” on each BOE stored in the Library.
Allow these Library-specific fields to differ from the BOE name and description that appear when the BOE is inserted into a proposal.
Ensure that updates to the Library Name/Description do not overwrite or automatically change any BOE instances already placed in proposals.
Provide clear labeling in the UI to distinguish between Library-level metadata (for identification and cataloging) and Proposal-level fields (for customer-facing content).
Include these Library Name/Description fields in Library search, filtering, and sorting to improve discoverability.
Benefits:
Improves BOE organization and discoverability within the Library through clearer, more descriptive internal naming.
Prevents unintended changes to proposal-facing BOE content when adjusting internal catalog information.
Supports better reuse by making it easier for users to identify the correct BOE variant based on internal conventions.
Reduces confusion and errors when managing large libraries of similar or related BOEs.
