Feature Request: Create Access Tag from Assign Access Tag Screen
Summary:
Enable users to create a new access tag directly from the Assign Access Tag screen when the desired tag does not yet exist. This inline creation capability should streamline workflows by removing the need to navigate away from the assignment context to manage access tags.
Problem Statement:
Today, when assigning an access tag to a user or proposal, users may discover that the tag they need does not exist. To create it, they must leave the Assign Access Tag screen, navigate to the appropriate tag management area, create the new tag, and then return to the original screen to complete the assignment. This context switching is inefficient, increases the time required to complete simple tasks, and introduces the risk that users will forget to return and finish the assignment.
Proposed Solution:
Allow users to create a new access tag directly from the Assign Access Tag screen via a clearly labeled option (e.g., “Create new access tag…” in a submenu or inline control).
When the user selects this option, present a lightweight dialog or inline form where they can define the tag’s required attributes (e.g., name, description, visibility/permissions as applicable).
After successful creation, automatically add the new tag to the available tag list and pre-select it for the current assignment action.
Apply existing validation rules to prevent duplicate tag names or invalid configurations.
Ensure that permissions and security rules are respected so only authorized users can create new access tags from this screen.
