Separate Number and Element Name columns on the Import Excel.

Feature Request: Separate Number and Element Name Columns for Excel Import

Summary:
Enable users to import tasks from Excel using separate columns for PBS/task number and PBS/task name, instead of requiring both values in a single combined cell. This will make import templates clearer and reduce entry mistakes.

Problem Statement:
Currently, users must type the task number and task name into the same Excel cell with a space separating them for imports. This requirement is confusing for users preparing import files and makes it easy to mis-format data (e.g., missing spaces, extra characters, or inconsistent patterns). As a result, imports may fail or create incorrect records, leading to rework and frustration.

Proposed Solution:
Allow the Excel import template to accept two distinct columns: one for the task number and one for the task name.
Update the import mapping UI to let users map “Task Number” and “Task Name” separately.
Validate imported rows to ensure that when a task number is provided, a corresponding task name is also present (and vice versa), and provide clear error messages for incomplete rows.

Benefits:
Reduces user confusion when preparing Excel files for import.
Decreases data entry and formatting errors caused by combining number and name in one cell.
Speeds up the import process by aligning with typical spreadsheet practices (separate fields per attribute).
Improves data quality and consistency for imported tasks across the system.
