Variable BOE Cost Impact Confirmation Popup

Feature Request: BOE Cost Impact Confirmation Popup

Summary:
Display a confirmation popup whenever a change to a proposal-level variable will affect the cost of one or more BOEs. The popup should list all impacted BOEs and require explicit user confirmation before the system applies the changes.

Problem Statement:
Currently, changes to proposal properties that drive BOE cost calculations can unintentionally alter the cost of multiple BOEs without clear, consolidated visibility. Users may not realize which BOEs are impacted, increasing the risk of unintended pricing changes, inconsistent proposals, and potential downstream approval or audit issues. The lack of a clear confirmation step makes it difficult to safely manage global or shared variables that affect many BOEs at once.

Proposed Solution:
When a user updates a proposal property or variable that is used in BOE cost calculations:

  • Detect all BOEs whose costs would change as a result of the update.

  • Present a popup window listing each impacted BOE (including key identifying information such as BOE ID, name/description, and current vs. new cost or variance).

  • Require the user to explicitly confirm before applying the change (e.g., “Confirm and Update” / “Cancel”).

  • If the user cancels, do not apply the variable change and leave all BOE costs unchanged.

  • Optionally provide filters or sorting within the popup (e.g., sort by largest cost delta) for large proposals.

  • Log the confirmation event (user, timestamp, variable changed, number of BOEs impacted) for auditability.

Benefits:

  • Reduces the risk of unintended cost changes across multiple BOEs when proposal variables are updated.

  • Improves transparency by clearly showing which BOEs will be affected before changes are committed.

  • Increases user confidence and control over global cost-driving updates.

  • Supports better auditability and compliance by documenting cost-impacting changes and user confirmations.

  • Helps maintain data integrity and pricing consistency across complex proposals.
