BOE Activity Feed Updates for Variable Changes

Feature Request: BOE Activity Feed Updates for Variable Changes

Summary:
Add automated activity feed entries to each impacted BOE whenever a variable in proposal properties is changed. The entry should clearly indicate that a variable used in the BOE has changed and provide a “See details” link or expansion to show which variable changed and which formulas were affected.

Problem Statement:
When proposal-level variables are modified, users currently have no clear, localized history within each affected BOE showing that a change occurred and what it impacted. This makes it difficult to trace unexpected calculation differences, audit changes, or collaborate across teams, leading to confusion, manual investigation, and potential errors in BOE outputs.

Proposed Solution:
Automatically create an activity feed entry for every BOE that uses a variable whenever that variable is changed in the proposal properties.
The activity entry should include a concise message such as: “A variable used in this BOE has changed.”
Provide a “See details” control that reveals:

  • The name (and identifier) of the variable that changed

  • The old and new values (where applicable)

  • A list of formulas or fields within the BOE that are impacted by the change
Ensure entries are time-stamped and associated with the user who made the variable change.
Support multiple variable changes in a single action by summarizing all impacted variables and formulas in one activity entry or clearly grouped entries.

Benefits:
Improves traceability and auditability of changes that affect BOE calculations.
Reduces time spent diagnosing unexpected differences in BOE results.
Enhances collaboration by clearly showing who changed which variables and when.
Increases user confidence in BOE data by making downstream impacts of variable changes transparent.
