Feature Request: Terminology Administration Tab
Summary:
Introduce a dedicated Terminology tab under the Administration section in BOE Pro that allows administrators to customize specific interface terms (such as “RAM,” “RAM Groups,” and select BOE View tab names) so the UI language aligns with each organization’s internal terminology. All changes are limited to the user interface only — reports and exported data remain unchanged.
Problem Statement:
Currently, end-users may find terms like “RAM” and “RAM Groups” unclear or misaligned with the terminology used within their organizations. This mismatch creates confusion, slows onboarding, and can reduce overall user adoption because users must translate between BOE Pro terminology and their established internal language. Administrators have no built-in way to adjust these labels, resulting in persistent friction and inconsistent understanding across teams.
Proposed Solution:
Add a Terminology tab under the existing Administration area in BOE Pro, accessible only to users with administrative privileges.
Within this tab, allow administrators to:
Configure display names and optional abbreviations for specific system terms (e.g., “RAM,” “RAM Groups,” and designated BOE View tab names).
Enforce uniqueness for all customized terms and abbreviations across the interface to avoid ambiguity or collisions.
Apply configured terminology consistently across all relevant UI locations where these labels appear (navigation, headings, inline references, and tab names).
Limit all changes to the BOE Pro interface only — underlying data structures, calculations, reports, and exports must continue to use the existing system terminology in this phase.
Benefits:
Reduces user confusion by aligning UI labels with the organization’s familiar terminology.
Improves onboarding and training by removing the need for users to learn or mentally translate unfamiliar terms.
Supports change management and broader adoption of BOE Pro across diverse organizations with different nomenclature.
Maintains data integrity and reporting consistency by keeping reports and exports unchanged while improving the in-app experience.
