Feature Request: Task Column Totals and Visible Task Descriptions
Summary:
Enable a total row when tasks are displayed in columns on the estimates view and make the task description visible within each tile beneath or alongside the task name. This will provide consistent summary information across matrix layouts and improve task visibility for users reviewing estimates.
Problem Statement:
Currently, when resources are shown in columns on the estimates view, a total row is available. However, when the matrix is switched so tasks appear in columns, the total row disappears. This creates an inconsistent experience and makes it harder for users to review totals depending on the selected layout. In addition, task descriptions are not visible in the tile with the task name, which limits context and forces users to open or reference tasks separately to understand the work being estimated.
Proposed Solution:
Add a total row to the estimates view when tasks are displayed in columns, matching the behavior already available when resources are shown in columns.
Ensure the total row calculates and displays the appropriate aggregate values for the task-column layout.
Make the task description visible directly in the task tile together with the task name so users can quickly understand what each task represents without extra clicks.
Maintain a consistent presentation and calculation logic across both matrix orientations to reduce confusion and support efficient estimate review.
Benefits:
Improves consistency across estimates view layouts.
Makes totals easier to review regardless of whether resources or tasks are displayed in columns.
Provides better task context by showing descriptions directly in the tile.
Reduces time spent navigating away from the matrix to understand task details.
Supports faster and more accurate estimation workflows.
