Feature Request: Reset Header/Footer from Section View
Summary:
Provide a one-click “Reset to Default” option for section headers and footers directly within the Section View, so users can quickly restore default formatting and content without navigating into section properties.
Problem Statement:
Currently, users must open the section properties dialog to reset a section’s header and footer to their default state. This adds unnecessary steps, especially when working through multiple sections, and makes simple layout corrections slower and more cumbersome than necessary. The extra navigation increases friction and interrupts the editing workflow.
Proposed Solution:
Add a clearly labeled “Reset Header/Footer to Default” button in the Section View, within the existing header/footer area.
When clicked, this button should:
Restore the section’s header and/or footer to the system or template default values.
Preserve unrelated section settings (e.g., content, formatting outside header/footer, and other section properties).
Prompt for confirmation if the current header/footer contains unsaved custom content that will be overwritten.
Optionally, provide separate controls for “Reset Header” and “Reset Footer” if users may want to reset them independently.
Benefits:
Reduces the number of clicks and navigation steps required to correct or standardize section headers and footers.
Speeds up workflows when updating multiple sections in a document or model.
Decreases user error by providing a clear, explicit reset action instead of requiring manual changes in section properties.
Improves overall usability and user satisfaction by making a common corrective action accessible directly where users are working.
